Called the "Drive -E" line of engines because everything needs a theme these days, they will be called the T5 and T6 (obviously...because Drive -E) and be neither inline 5 or inline 6 engines, though they will have turbo's.

The T5 is a turbocharged i4 displacing 2.0 liters and the T6 is a...any guesses? That's right, Twincharged (supercharged and turbocharged) inline 4 displacing 2.0 liters. The T5 is rated at 240hp and the T6 will have 302.

Makes sense right? Expect these masters of the alphanumeric and billable service hours to replace the Current T5 and T6 engines, which stands for turbo I5 and turbo I6 (weirdly) in next years models.

Also, they are made for future hybridization in case the service department gets slow.

Stupid naming system, but potentially awesome engines. Though I have to imagine that it will be frighteningly expensive when the twincharged mill breaks down. And that they come at the expense of losing I5's and I6's is a shame. I've never had an I5, but the sounds Audi Quattro's make on the YouTube makes me lust for them. Even though a street going version will never sound as awesome as some insane rally prepped mill, just knowing that there are possibilities makes it worthy.

I'm sure they will be potent mills, but nuclear power is great too, until it isn't. I just don't understand the twincharging, I just can't imagine the benefits outweigh the costs.

So are these things going to be across the whole range and that's it, no other engines?

yup. Anywhere there is a T5 or T6 you will instead get a...um...T5 or T6. In diesel friendly lands there is a D4 as well with some clever tech.

But just think of the bragging rights. I've got a twin charged engine just like a Group B Lancia.
